Corey Rubin to Receive Cleveland Performance of Choral Work
|
Corey Rubin's Euclid Avenue Songs will be performed November 21 in Cleveland, Ohio, at the inaugural concert of the Cleveland Chamber Choir, newly formed by conductor Scott MacPherson. The piece, a multi-movement work for a cappella chorus, celebrates the history of Cleveland, the composer's hometown. |

Texu Kim (DM '15) to Receive Premiere by the National Orchestra of Korea
|
Texu's new piece, Academic Ritual for Korean traditional orchestra - large ensemble (50+ players) of Korean folk instruments, commissioned by the National Orchestra of Korea, will be premiered on Thursday, November 5th in South Korea. It is for a concert to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the foundation of the orchestra and based on the oldest (1000 years old) existing Korean folk orchestra music.
Additionally, Texu's new piece Treppab!! for saxophone quartet, commissioned by the Society of Composers, Inc., will be premiered by Red Clay Saxophone Quartet on Friday, November 13th at SCI National Conference in Florida (at which Don Freund is the guest composer). Also, Texu's piece Take 13 is gonig to be performed the Electronic Music Midwest Festival (Nov. 19-21). |
