Two IU Composers to Participate in Seoul International Computer Music Festival 2016
|
Christopher Poovey's Dripstone for baritone sax and electronics and Christopher LaRosa's time runs still for fixed media have been selected for performance at the Seoul International Computer Music Festival 2016. Among the 17 people selected for the festival, they are the only students from the US. The festival will take place in October. |

PBS Documentary Scored by Alex Blank
|
Alex Blank was commissioned to write the score for WTIU's documentary, Along the Wabash, the feature production of Indiana Public Media's Spring 2016 pledge-drive. The production was produced as a part of Indiana's ongoing bicentennial celebration, and was broadcast throughout the state on local PBS stations. |

Kimberly Osberg Receives Inaugural Commission from Hometown Middle School
|
Kimberly's work, Band Together, is being premiered by Northstar Middle School (by eighth grade wind ensemble) in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on Thursday, April 21st. Commissioned by, and dedicated to, director Laurie Francis and the band, the work is in celebration of her retirement from the program after 20+ years of service in the district. Chris Neiner Anticipates Performances in Bowling Green
|
Chris Neiner will receive performances at Bowling Green State University. A new arrangement of his piece Toy Chest will be premiered for a trio of flute, clarinet and piano, alongside his Music with Oliver. Musicians include Samantha Tartamella, flute, Stephen Dubetz, clarinet, and Varis Vatcharanukul, piano. |

Recent Awards and Commissions for Melody Eötvös (DM '14)
|
Melody Eötvös recently won the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra International Composition Competition with her string quartet Olber's Dance in the Dark. She was also recently awarded the Chou's Annual Commission Award in China, for which she will travel there in October to present a lecture as well as attend the world premiere of her commission. This May Eötvös will also be a composer resident at the Copland House in NY, during which she will be working on a commission from Guy Yehuda (Michigan State University). This August Eötvös will return to Australia for the world premiere of her recently completed work for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (Hobart), as well check in with her current collaboration and commission with Synergy Percussion and Vox in Sydney. |
