Counselor-in-Residence Program
The Jacobs School of Music has partnered with the IU Health Center’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) to staff a counselor onsite at the Jacobs School part-time.
Brad Stepp, a clinical psychologist with the IU Health Center, is stationed at Jacobs 20 hours per week. Students will still make appointments through the Health Center, but Stepp also will have drop-in hours and will spend time conducting outreach, such as educational seminars and workshops for students.
Services
- Individual counseling by appointment for Jacobs students
- Same-day consultation for urgent situations for Jacobs students
- Faculty/staff consultations and outreach/programming for Jacobs faculty/staff

Cost
Two free appointments, then $30 per appointment (for students who have paid the health fee).

Felicia Cianchetti, LMHC, came to CAPS following several years with the Indianapolis Counseling Center and has experience working in dynamic work environments requiring immediate and necessary conflict resolution between diverse groups of people with varying interests and values.
Felicia has not only worked with emergency communication teams within law enforcement agencies, but also served in the United States Army Reserve as a Behavioral Health Specialist. Felicia has experience working with a variety of adult outpatient clients who present with maladaptive criminal and/or violent behaviors and social concerns such as anger, grief, and substance use.
Felicia’s specific interests include military psychology, law enforcement mental health and wellness, conduct disorders, criminal behavior, substance use, secondary trauma, expressive arts, and family therapy. Her work is particularly influenced by empirically supported treatments such as cognitive-behavioral, humanistic-existential, person-centered, solution-focused, motivational interviewing and family-systems theories.
