How to Schedule a Recital
Please note: ALL RECITALS, including ones that occur off-campus, must be scheduled with the Scheduling Office via the instructions on this page. (The only exception is for vocalists using an opera role to count as a recital -- these should be set up through the Graduate Office.)
Please note: This page is for instructions on how students can schedule their recitals, both for degree recitals and non-degree recitals ("Student Recitals"). If you are scheduling any other type of event, such as a concert for a Self-Governed Student Organization; or if you are a faculty member seeking to schedule any event, such as a Faculty Recital, Guest Recital/Masterclass, Studio/Class Recital, ensemble concert, etc., please see How to Request an Event.
Students must schedule their recitals online through the Program Creation Form (see "Recital and Program Creation Form" at left). The Program Creation Form is most easily accessed from an on-campus computer. Please use Internet Explorer or Safari. DO NOT use Google Chrome. Through the Program Creation Form you will:
- select an available recital date and time in Auer Hall, Ford-Crawford Hall, or Recital Hall; or write in an alternate location that you have independently scheduled
- create your recital program
- submit the program electronically to your instructor / recital committee for approval
You will receive confirmation emails from the online system as you complete each required step and reminder emails for required next steps. Please note: your instructor(s) will not be notified to approve your program and recital date until after you have created the program.
More information on how to use the Program Creation form here:Recital and Program Creation Form.
NOTE: You are required to complete a new Program Creation Form, if you canceled a recital in a previous semester.

Important Dates
Summer 2020 recitals are occurring on a case-by-case basis. In general, summer recitals will not happen. If you find yourself in a position where you need to "give" a degree recital in order to graduate in June or July 2020, please take the following steps:
- Contact the respective Music Undergraduate Office (musug@indiana.edu) or Music Graduate Office (musgrad@indiana.edu) to request a recital.
- Any request for a degree recital during Summer 2020 must first be approved by the Music Undergraduate Office or Music Graduate Office.
- If your request to have a recital has been approved by the Undergraduate/Graduate Office, they will forward your request to the Scheduling Office.
- The Scheduling Office will be in contact with you about how to submit an online recital request form.
Fall 2020 Recital Scheduling
Information about Fall recitals will be announced during the summer months. When Fall recital scheduling information is available, it will be posted here, and emailed to the Jacobs community.
Recital Scheduling Guidelines
- All recitals must be scheduled and approved by required instructor/recital committee and the JSoM Scheduling Office at least three weeks in advance of your proposed recital date.
- Proposed dates, times, and hall reservations will be canceled if recital requests are not approved by the 3-week deadline.
- In the event that your proposed date, time, or hall is not available, you will be contacted immediately by the JSoM Scheduling office to choose an alternate date, time, or hall.
- Your proposed date, time, and hall reservation becomes official only after all required approvals are submitted online or sent via email to the JSoM Scheduling office.
- Communicate with your instructor / recital committee during the recital scheduling process. They can approve through the online approval screen or by sending their approvals via email to the JSoM Scheduling office (musched [at] indiana [dot] edu).
